Collaboration Tools
Another area of tremendous importance for artists is that of collaboration. The art world is incredibly dispersed across the planet. High bandwidth audio and video is needed to adequately communicate the artistic intent.

ArtGrid
The emphasis here is on using high bandwidth networks, including the TeraGrid Network, to enhance collaboration across great distances by establishing an ArtGrid to connect key technology-and-arts clusters nationally and internationally. The greatest impact to the arts and humanities may be obtained by providing integrated IT environments that expand the creative practice. The ArtGrid connects a consortium of collaborators and content distributors from institutions, museums, and companies around the world, creating an interconnected network of National hubsites. The leading edge site at NCSA/UIUC will join with other sites to deploy open source infrastructure for information technology and to enable collaborative work by national and international artists and scholars.

Communication Models/Modalities for Distributed Spaces
This series of projects will examine novel communication models for communicating between artists, and to communicate artistic intent. While the above ArtGrid deploys an infrastructure for collaboration, this project would examine modes of communicating content.
